When (the actual) Father Christmas got in touch from the (Portable) North Pole asking if we’d like to review one of his special video phone calls, we said yes. Of course we did!
DISCLAIMER: We received a magic pass free of charge for the purpose of this review.
What is PNP?
The Portable North Pole (PNP) site allows Santa to send personalised video messages to children and adults all around the world.
The free videos have amazed my daughter over the years, and definitely entertained me too! I didn’t know you could buy extra packages like the Video Pass or Magic Pass, this gets you more Santa screen time, extra personalisation options, more photos, and magical scenes from his village in the North Pole.
You can also try out ‘Santa’s Verdict’ which lets your loved one know if they are on Santa’s Naughty or Nice list! You can even print off a ‘nice list’ certificate if you have the Magic Pass. Not sure if I’ll make the nice list, but my daughter definitely will!
How do I use it?
It’s very easy. Firstly, download the app from my App Store (Portable North Pole). Once the app has downloaded you can sign up, or log in if you’ve used the app before.
Then, there are two separate parts to the app. One for the children; this part of the app contains lots of (really fun) festive games, Christmas bedtime stories and your saved videos/messages to the children. Then we have the parent’s corner. This part of the app is password protected so you can prepare the magic. Once you’re in the parent’s corner you can prepare the videos for your children.
PNP video options
We were gifted the magic pass (£12.99) and I was very impressed. We’ve used the free video on previous years (the free video will be available from November 24th – sign up here to be notified when it’s available).

There are also other options available here. If you’ve got a really little one you can take advantage of the Ultimate Magic Pass which lasts for ten years!
What did we think?
My daughter is nine years old and has started to ask questions!! So when we got the opportunity to review the Magic Pass I jumped at the chance.
Olivia has always been a little unsure about Father Christmas (he’s not allowed in the bedroom – the stocking stays outside the door) so the videos are a nice way to show her what a friendly guy he is.
There are so many different video options with the Magic Pass, so you can keep the videos coming all the way until Christmas.
I wasn’t sure what she’d think this time, but she watched and listened in awe, shocked that Father Christmas knew so many personal details about her.
I love that the Magic Pass allows you to record your child’s reaction too. It’s a magical keepsake!
PNP also give back!
By partnering with children’s hospitals across the world, PNP has made the lives of sick kids a little brighter. Their hospital program donates 5% of every Web transaction directly to participating hospitals.
What’s not to love?
Download the app for free, have a little play and see where it takes you. I ended up playing the memory game at 11pm – it’s not just for kids!! Don’t forget to sign up for the FREE video updates here too.
